Larry Cohen's "God Told Me To" is one of his most unique films and comes off like one of the craziest "X-Files" episodes ever.

The regretfully short-lived 2001 horror anthology series "Night Visions" had some of the nastiest twist endings for any anthology series, to the point that even Rod Serling or the Crypt-Keeper might have gone, "Damn, dude."

Whatever you might think of the "Five Nights at Freddy's" movie as a whole, the opening credits are quite effective, both with the old video-game style animation used to get across the very dark backstory and that unnerving wall of children's drawings (the latter ALWAYS effective at creepiness).

The "Amicus ripoff anthology movie," 1973's "Tales That Witness Madness" is an interesting anthology horror if for nothing else the sheer insane "wow they actually went there" final segment.

1997's "Quicksilver Highway" is definitely one of the lesser horror anthologies out there, but it's entertaining enough given it was wise enough to have Christopher Lloyd as the host.

The Amicus horror anthologies from the 60s/70s are not only horror comfort food, they're all of remarkably good quality. Some segments may not be as good as others, but there's not a bad film in the bunch.

The 1979 adaptation of "Salem's Lot" has some truly memorable vampires in it, but it's interesting how turning the main vampire into a mute inhuman monster made the rare film where the Renfield equivalent comes off as the main villain.

With Jordan Love's current situation and talk of who might replace him if he's out for a while, I can't help but think of this subject; what's your favorite example of a backup QB who got the chance due to injury, did well, got some other team to think he was their long-term QB and promptly flopped?

Watching Brad Dourif in "Exorcist III", it's kind of amazing to consider he might not have been in the movie at all had the studio gotten their way and if Jason Miller hadn't had difficulty remembering his lines, so we get instead the awesome flip back and forth between the two that works so well.

I'm not sure there's a horror anthology film whose reputation is solely due to one segment as Dan Curtis's "Trilogy of Terror" from 1975 has. Anyone mentions this film, it's always to talk about the final segment.

1979's "Prophecy" is not a very good movie, but watching it, you understand why it's a favorite guilty pleasure horror flick (Stephen King is a big name fan), because it's basically a 50s monster movie in 70s clothing.

I saw "Thanksgiving" today at the Alamo Drafthouse (good time) and while Eli Roth clearly took inspiration from a lot of other films, there's one slasher that he REALLY took cues from, especially in the reveal of the killer's identity. (Spoilers ahead for those who haven't seen it yet.)

The early buzz for "Thanksgiving" is quite promising, which gives us hope that the holiday finally gets a good slasher film about it. That's good, because the first attempt at it, 1981's "Home Sweet Home" is...not good. At all.
